WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR A Configuration Engineer is required to fulfil a role in RBSL working on the MIV programme. Under the guidance of the RBSL Configuration Manager, the role is to define, implement and manage the data configuration processes for the MIV project. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of configuration management processes and procedures through their use as a practitioner. Preferably they will have experience of these processes and procedures in a military environment, with particular reference to Def Stan 05-57. The role will require the successful candidate to lead the implementation of the configuration control process for the MIV programme so it is important for the individual to possess personal drive and have the ability to work in a team environment as a subject matter expert for configuration management solutions. Key deliverables Configuration Management Plan and associated reports Implementation of the configuration control system for the MIV project Administer the change control process for the MIV project Conduct configuration audits to assure the processes are being followed Key stakeholders Programme Manager, Product Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Procurement professionals, Quality Engineers Job Specification To be the primary internal auditor for CM under the direction of theRBSL Compliance Team: Reporting on the CM process status to accommodate audits/assessments Facilitate/host external auditors where required Reporting non-compliances and observations to the Engineering Authority Ensuring remedial actions are planned and completed First Point of Contact for all matters relating to Configuration Management for MIV Generating and submitting CM related data into Mid-Term-Planning rounds; to identify and secure funding needs for all 'central' CM related activities - especially L&D Support the review and triage of technical queries arising from the supply chain / RBSL manufacturing operations department. Completing BMS Changes when required Develop, maintain and improve CM 'SQEPness' appropriate to meet business needs Develop and deliver CM L&D material; especially as part of Engineering induction Maintain a consistent set of CM BMS documentation and requested changes, ensuring appropriate authorisation and retention Provide advice and guidance regarding to project senior engineers regarding the state of CM in their projects and recommending appropriate improvements where necessary Provide CM advice, guidance and input into Bids and Proposals material To remain current in role through participation of CM practice within projects nominated by the EAWHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE Essential: Have or are working to become a certified CM Practitioner; qualified in at least one engineering discipline; demonstrable engineering experience at the specified grade; demonstrable ability to work almost autonomously to achieve established goals; demonstrable ability to work in small teams to deliver specified outcomes; demonstrable ability to be able to liaise and communicate with disparate parties in order to deliver specified outcomes.Desirable: Demonstrable engineering management experience in at least one RBSL delivery project; capability management experience;Attributes: Confident communicator - needs to deal with internal and external individuals from diverse engineering and non-engineering backgrounds Attention to detail - needs to ensure clear configuration management standards are set for the project and that all individuals adhere to the set standards Comfortable with new technology - able to adapt to new systems and ways of workingWHAT WE OFFER YOU This position pays overtime and is entitled to an annual bonus.
